We Are a Community

Main Street Mission is Surrounded by a strong Community

The need for services in Southern Rowan County grew, and in 2002, concerned individuals from First Baptist Church in China Grove decided to open a community food pantry in a historic Victorian home located at 306 South Main Street China Grove. One year later Pillowtex closed. Several thousand people suddenly had no source of income. The need grew and a director was hired. More volunteers and donations were needed, and the community lovingly responded. Individuals, churches, businesses and schools provided food and clothing, and those at MSM witnessed and continue to witness our community of neighbors helping neighbors by sharing God’s love. The support from this community is tremendous.

Then in 2013, the Bridges Out of Poverty Initiative was introduced to MSM staff and Board of Directors.
