September is Hunger month across the nation and at Main Street Mission. Join us as we pause and reflect about this growing problem facing our Country and our Community. We have numerous activities planned at the Mission and throughout our Communty to help raise awareness about hunger and povrty.

We need your help. Because of our response to food stamp delays, our shelves are emptier than usual - in fact , with 42 families seen last Friday, we were completely out of mac and cheese, soup, pasta and sauce, canned fruit, and canned vegetables.
Our May 2013 Newsletter can be viewed online by clicking here or you may pick one up at the mission. Our new newsletter is one way that we can keep people like you who are interested in our Mission up to date about events and opportunities. We appreciate your support and ask that you keep us in your prayers.
Main Street Mission is in need of Volunteers! We need volunteers to collect the fresh food from Food Lion Store #416, on Highway 29 near Pizza Hut. Days needed are Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. Volunteers must have a larger vehicle or truck and will be lifting moderately heavy coolers and totes of food. Volunteers must be available between the hours of 10 am – 12 noon. To complete the collection and delivery is about 45 minutes.
Please call 704-855-2909 and ask for Anne or Tom. Thank you!
While the need is increasing, so is God’s hand of provision. We are receiving all sorts of fresh and frozen resources from all over the community. The problem is where to process and store it! MSM is in need of a walk-in cooler, walk-in freezer and a work area for processing the bounty of vegetables, fresh and frozen meats as well as dry goods.
Main Street Mission has a new family member, Tom Harding. Tom is a YASC, Young Adult Service Community the United Church of Christ's Volunteer Ministries Program. Mount Zion UCC in China Grove is his hosst Church and he will be with us until July 2013.
